THE HAMLET PROJECT In 2008, Johnny Stallings and Open Hearts Open Minds produced Shakespeare's Hamlet with inmates at Two Rivers Correctional Institution, near Umatilla, Oregon. This project was inspired, in part, by Curt Tofteland's innovative work at Luther Luckett prison in Kentucky, as seen in the film Shakespeare Behind Bars. The six-month rehearsal process for Hamlet began March 12, 2008. The play was performed for inmates and for the general public in late September and early October of 2008. |
